Trail Overview
This user-maintained trail is very rocky, with a mix of sand, dusty red silt, and pine needles covering much of the ground. The pine needles soften the surface in places, but many rocks hide beneath them and can be hard to spot until you hit them, so slow down and be mindful of your tire placement. Trees and rocks are also scattered across the road. Despite the rough conditions, the route could be quite pleasant without the numerous rocks. Several areas along the way offer potential dispersed camping, with clearings where you can pull off and set up camp. One highlight is a historical marker commemorating the Nobles Emigrant Trail, which ran from Nobles to Pine Creek Valley. William Nobles opened this historic route in 1852 as a wagon route toward Northern California, offering an interesting glimpse into the area’s emigrant history. The steel rail T-marker features authentic diary quotations and pioneer accounts, making it a worthwhile stop. ATVs, UTVs, Side-by-Sides, and Dirt Bikes must always have a valid California ATV Operating Permit sticker.
