Trail Overview

This well-maintained trail sees regular use from adventurers and offers a varied drive through the mountains and surrounding valleys. The route climbs through rocky sections before descending into lower areas with marshland and more open scenery. Although the surface is generally manageable, watch for occasional large humps that can catch you off guard, along with some minor washouts along the way. One highlight is a beautiful campsite near the bottom of the trail when approaching from the south; set in a lovely natural area, it makes a great place to stop and enjoy the surroundings. Keep in mind this is a State Refuge, so follow any posted rules and restrictions while visiting. ATVs, UTVs, Side-by-Sides, and Dirt Bikes must always have a valid California ATV Operating Permit sticker.
