Trail Overview
FS 1S64 branches off FS 1S09 near Highway 120 and starts easy with a few nice camping spots at the trailhead and one more at the far end. The single-lane gravel and dirt track climbs gradually, beginning as simple packed gravel before the grade steepens and moderate ruts appear on the way up. A natural turnaround point marks where the maintained trail effectively ends. Past that, the route continues unmaintained through heavy overgrowth, with a fallen tree fully blocking the trail and very little room to turn a larger vehicle around.
Difficulty
This trail breaks into distinct sections. The first stretch is flat, packed gravel and dirt, and easygoing at a 2. The climb that follows adds a steep grade and moderate ruts, pushing that section closer to a 3. Beyond the natural turnaround, the trail is entirely unmaintained, with heavy brush and a fallen tree blocking the way and almost no space to turn around, bringing the overall difficulty to a 5. Larger vehicles should use caution before pushing past the turnaround point.
