Trail Overview
The 1S04A trail is a short, entertaining dirt run that offers a fun mix of casual cruising and mild technical driving. As you start the route, you are greeted by a wide, flat, and comfortable sandy dirt track winding through a beautiful corridor of tall pine trees. This initial section is very smooth and easily handled by most vehicles. However, the terrain soon shifts as you head further in. You will encounter small but noticeable dirt ruts on the downhill that break up the smooth surface, so keep an eye on your line. You will also need to navigate a few narrower pinch points where vibrant green bushes heavily overhang the trail, presenting a distinct pinstriping hazard for wider rigs. Eventually, the trail opens up into a large, cleared dirt recreation area. This terminal spot is a popular local shooting range, featuring a central wooden stump used as a target. If you explore the clearing, you'll find scattered spent brass, target debris, and a small, freshly tracked-out mud pit to play in before you reach the end of the line and turn around.
Difficulty
This trail earns a difficulty 3 rating due to its changing conditions. If you are new to this specific route, do not let the incredibly flat, smooth, and welcoming entrance fool you. As you progress, the presence of downhill dirt ruts requires a bit more careful tire placement and slightly higher ground clearance to avoid scraping your undercarriage. Additionally, the narrow sections with encroaching brush require a slower, more deliberate pace to protect your vehicle's paint job. Finally, navigating around the target debris and the soft, rutted mud pit at the trail's terminus requires some standard 4x4 capability and momentum to avoid getting unexpectedly bogged down.
