Trail Overview
This long, well-maintained trail descends through the forest, then levels out and continues toward the end of the route. Some fallen trees remain along the road, but most have been cut and moved out of the travel path. A few larger logs still require vehicles to drive over them, but they are manageable with a high-clearance vehicle; sedans are not recommended. Several pull-offs along the single-lane route allow oncoming traffic to pass, as well as places to stop or set up dispersed camp. Near the end of the trail, a large campsite offers an especially beautiful view and is spacious enough for group camping. The main route ends at a large sand berm. A small path to the left near the endpoint continues farther down the mountain and provides access to additional camping areas. The main route is popular with hunters, so watch for other vehicles and travel carefully. ATVs, UTVs, Side-by-Sides, and Dirt Bikes must always have a valid California ATV Operating Permit sticker.
