Trail Overview

Eye - FS 11N83 is a 0.8-mile red, hard-packed, single-lane dirt road that shows clear, immediate signs of recent or ongoing Forest Service fuel reduction activity. This road is heavily used and features large piles of brush. From the start, drivers will encounter a high bump (likely a water bar from recent logging work) that requires decent ground clearance to clear; there are at least three of these large bumps along the route. While initially bumpy, the trail evens out just before the first dispersed camping area, which boasts a beautiful site tucked into the trees on one side and a second site in a meadow pullout across the way. Beyond this point, the forest becomes more dense, creating a tighter squeeze that will likely cause scraping for wider rigs. The route officially "ends" at a three-way fork with two closed roads. The leftmost leg is heavily bumped, loose, and covered in downed branches, but it hides a tucked-away campsite. The middle and right forks appear to continue deeper into the tree cover, but are rugged and actively undergoing fuel management, and officially closed. This short trail is a great option for campers seeking isolated dispersed camping that is still very close to the lake and paid campgrounds.

Difficulty

The trail earns a Level 3 rating primarily due to at least three significant high bumps that require good ground clearance to navigate. The remainder of the road is a Level 2, though drivers of wide vehicles should be prepared for a tight squeeze and potential pinstriping in the dense forest section past the first campsite.
