Trail Overview

This is a point-to-point trail for dirt bike riders transitioning between the East Frazier Trail (dirt bikes only) and Frazier Mountain trails or an out-and-back trail for all other vehicles. The surface is primarily graded dirt, but there are occasional smaller embedded rocks, exposed tree roots, and shallow ruts that make travel a little bumpy. The trail is only slightly wider than a single vehicle, although frequent places exist to pull over and allow other vehicles to pass. The trail deadends at a large open space, making it easy for several vehicles to turn around simultaneously. The reward for choosing this route will be a scenic drive through redwood trees and elevated views of the Los Padres National Forest and Hungry Valley. The trail is closed annually from 11/2 to 4/30, and a green sticker permit is required for off-road vehicles. Cellular phone service is good near the top of Frazier Mountain. Tread Light and Pack-it-Out.

Difficulty

Trail surface is graded dirt with occasional embedded rocks, tree roots, and shallow ruts. 2WD vehicles with moderate clearance should be able to easily handle the route unless rain or light snow makes the surface muddy and slippery. Lowered tire pressure would help to smooth out the ride.
