Trail Overview
This trail starts at the railroad bridge, a very popular gathering and destination spot for offroaders. The route follows a very wide wash, one of the widest in the area, though the actual path of the trail can change seasonally as water flow reshapes the terrain. You'll encounter lots of sand with deep sand at times, requiring momentum management. Although mostly sand, there are some rocks scattered throughout, adding variety to the surface. In the early parts of the trail, one end of the Fish Creek Mountains rises on one side while a 20-foot mud wall towers on the other, creating a dramatic corridor. This is a popular trail that serves as a great route to take you to the Carrizo Wash Overlook Viewpoint, also called the Bus Stop, a notable destination in the area.
Difficulty
The lots of sand with deep sand at times requires four wheel drive, and airing down is essential for maintaining traction. The very wide wash provides excellent room to find the best line and avoid the deepest sand or scattered rocks. The trail being popular means it's well-traveled and easier to follow. The path changing seasonally means conditions can vary, so be prepared to adjust your route based on current wash conditions.
