The route is dusty and features ruts, washboards, whoops, and steps under 12 inches, creating a varied surface. There are large mud walls on the sides framing your journey through the wash. The trail ends near Superstition Mountain, providing a dramatic backdrop to the railroad bridge photo opportunity.
Difficulty
The deep sand requires four wheel drive, and airing down is recommended for maintaining traction. The combination of ruts, washboards, whoops, and steps under 12 inches creates a bumpy, technical ride that demands attention. The very wide wash provides room to pick your line and find the best route through. The large mud walls mean flash flood awareness is critical. The dusty conditions will reduce visibility when following other vehicles.
