Trail Overview
This trail starts at BLM 109 on the south side, with the railroad bridge serving as the median point of the route. The railroad bridge is a very popular meeting place for off roaders in the area and a great place to take pictures, making it a notable landmark destination. The surface is hard-packed sand with some gravel providing solid traction. The trail runs parallel to the railroad track throughout, creating an interesting industrial backdrop. Fish Creek Mountain is just to the west, providing scenic views. There are opportunities to disperse camp on the west side of the bridge, where the terrain opens up. You'll encounter a lot of washboards on the west side that create a bumpy ride. This is part of the El Centro BLM land.
Difficulty
This is an easy trail with good surface conditions on hard-packed sand with some gravel. The lot of washboards on the west side creates a jarring ride, but aren't technically challenging. The parallel track alongside the railroad provides good navigation reference. The wider terrain makes this an accessible route suitable for most high-clearance vehicles. Airing down is recommended for improved comfort over the washboards.
