Trail Overview

The first part of the trail is paved. About 2/3rds of the way in, it becomes rocky and dirty. High clearance is recommended. There is one tricky hairpin about 1 mile from camp. Other than that, it is a relatively easy track. The last bit is super nice because you are driving right along the lake and you get some amazing views.

Difficulty

Most of it is unmentioned forrest road, but there are sections where it get rocky. They are not tricky, but you just cant blast through them. There is also one hairpin that is a tad tricky and visibility on the right line is a bit tough. This is a lot easier if you have a high clearance 4x4, is doable with a stock 4x4.

Trail was fun after this weekend storm, you can tell its been damage a lot, if you drive a big heavy rig make sure you air down and have 4x4, I dont recommend doing it alone, had to recover myself at least 5 times, around 1pm ice becomes very slippery became full at corners and edges, other than that its beautiful and had a great time

Made it up and back with no issues. Trail seems rougher than it was a few months ago. No snow on the ground.

Bowman is like others have said, 2/3’s paved with the final section being dirt - honestly an unmaintained fire road, with zero features or obstacles. Once we reached the end, a stock subaru crosstrek and truck w/ trailer was heading the opposite direction. We had air’d down because we were unsure what we would encounter. Completely unnecessary but it does make the ride more comfortable. Alongside the main trail however, are a number of interesting and fun features. Some great stuff to get your feet wet if you’re a beginner like myself. Once you’ve reached the lake, there is a small water crossing thats possible aswell.

Piece of cake. Beautiful drive. Fun but not hard. Lots of room to explore up beyond Bowman Lake, whole bunch of cool spots to enjoy. Some people around but not busy. Plenty of camp sites available.

Stayed at the Bowman campgrounds for 2 nights not bad at all. Getting there the road is rocky terrain. Im on king shocks with adjusters and 33s so it was a smooth ride. Otherwise anyone with clearance will be able to make it there with no problem. Don't take a sedan or regular cars up there unless you want some damage key word is CLEARANCE. I didn't use 4x4 at all. As always please clean up after yourselves.

Trail was perfect. 90% dry with the wet being small little puddles and lightly wet areas. I went Bowman Lake to Sawmill to Jackson Meadows. No-one should have any trouble coming up Bowman Lake.

Traveled as far as Sawmill Lake. Camped at Bowman Lake. Trail was dry with very few wet patches. The only crossing was less than a foot deep and above Bowman Lake. Generally easy conditions with no need for ever engaging 4LO or lockers. Only one vehicle wide for much of the trail but during my trip I encountered very few dull size vehicles, a few ATVs and dirt bikes.

The snow has pretty much melted on the trail. There’s a few muddy spots, but nothing that a proper OHV can’t handle.

The snow block that was there during the winter has melted enough to get over it if your lifted, we made it about 1/2 way from where the dirt starts to the lake, there’s some pretty gnarly off camber snow, I’m on 35’s locked rear and I could have kept going but my buddy’s were all on 33’s unlocked so we set up camp at a nice spot and had a good time
