Trail Overview
This trail starts at the intersection of BLM 075 and BLM 078, offering great views of the Superstition Mountains throughout. The route is mostly sandy and cuts through a meadow of grass (yes, actual grass) and creosote bushes, creating an unusual desert landscape. Creosote bushes are scattered throughout the area. The trail drops in and out of small washes, including BLM 083, as it navigates the terrain. The trail heads east once it gets very close to the Superstition Mountains, and there's a train track nearby where you might be able to see a train pass by. Be aware of some sinkholes as well in the southern area, especially if driving at night when they're harder to spot. The trail crosses BLM 075 along the way. The trail gets a little hard to find and follow because the washes have changed over time.
Difficulty
This is an easy-to-moderate trail with the mostly sandy surface being straightforward. Dropping in and out of small washes adds minor vertical challenges. The sinkholes in the southern area are hazards to watch for, particularly dangerous at night. The trail being hard to find due to wash changes adds navigation difficulty that requires attention to terrain features. The sandy meadow terrain is generally forgiving.
