Trail Overview

Bailey Canyon is a scenic trail running through the San Bernardino National Forest. There are views of Silverwood Lake, canyons full of trees, and the city near the south end of the trail. The trail is mainly dirt but turns to rock in some areas. Creek crossings are also possible at certain times of the year. This trail can be relatively easy but may be challenging during or just after the wet seasons. There are sections with deep ruts, downed trees, and rocks that came down from the hillside next to the trail. There are also overgrown bushes and trees that cover the majority of the trail areas and will cause pinstriping. There are no bypasses so scratches to vehicles are unavoidable. Cell service is patchy, mainly in the middle of the trail, so downloading maps ahead of time is recommended.

Took this trail from the south off of Palm. A few gas stations off of the 215fwy before Palm runs into the trail. Beautiful trail with great views and some large water puddles along the way. Plenty of room to air up/down and either end of the trail. Took about 2 hours.

Trail was great. Normal for the most part. Some challenges in the trail. Definitely will need 4x4 in some areas.

Nice gatekeeper at the start (south end) that nearly caught us. Took the wrong line and nearly flipped on our side the ruts were so deep! Third try we got through. After that it was an easy trail. Narrow in places and rocky in parts but nothing hectic. Was hoping for snow but we just got most and rain. Camper the night and left this morning out the north side.

Trail was in good condition. Two sections that were pretty rutted but still easy. Always a good trail for a scenic ride.

Took my 4Runner on the trail. When I almost made it to the peak there was a stretch of 1ft ice on the ground. Tried pushing my way through but then lost all traction and started slipping off the edge. The only thing that saved me from falling off the edge was a tree that my rear end hit. Got super lucky. I recommend not going after a major storm and checking conditions before proceeding.

I did this trail in my 2006 ford econoline, I am 2wd with a locker but I did not have to use the locker at any point in the trail, my van is just about 11.5 feet tall, I did make it through but I got some pinstripes, the trail itself is not narrow but the trees and branches make the trail super low and narrow in some spots overall pretty easy, there were only a couple of small rocky areas. took me about 2.5 hours to do.

Trail is in good condition. Passed by a few SXS and ATVs. had to maneuver a bit to get across if there wasn't a turnout. Some of the brush gets thicker on the side closer to the 138. Large vehicles not recommended. My GX got some trail lines, so anything wider will definitely kiss some of the brush. Overall its mostly a dirt/fire trail. no too difficult. just a bit narrow

Trail was in good condition and fallen trees had been pulled aside. Easy for stock Bronco Two door on 33’s. I was the only person on the trail which was great as this is a narrow canyon trail.

Narrow at some points with a long drop. My Silverado 1500 did fit through with a foot or so to spare before going off the edge.

I entered from University Heights/south entry. There was a truck obstructing the road. No one inside. Signs of recovery. It reminded me what can happen. I had to turn around. On the way back, I met a police officer coming to check the situation. I hope this obstruction will be removed soon.
