This trail goes adjacent to Fort Hunter Liggett which is a testing ground for artillery. Before this trail starts be mindful of private property on either side.

Dusty, lots of fog in late evening and early morning that gets everything wet but once it lifts, weather is great. Do not let onyx route you through trails in fort hunter liggett (live fire zones), keep going down Naciamiento Ferguson (coming from 101) until you hit the trailhead that has a sign with "South coast Road"

Trail is a little dusty. Good otherwise.

Easy trail but can get narrow at times, my buddy got his CRV through no problem. Only slightly bottomed out once but I wouldn’t say high clearance is needed on the north half of the trail. My 4Runner ORP had no problems with stock suspension. If you’re going to camp on a weekend most of the good spots are gonna be taken by mid day Friday. Getting there early morning Friday is the move. Or during the weekdays.

Beautiful views from the top of Nacimiento and all along the ridge of South Coast. Drove up Nacimiento, then headed south on South Coast and descended on Los Burros. Road/Trail was packed dry/moist w/ loose rock occasionally, depending on where you were on trail. There were a few mud-puddles as well, but nothing deeper than an inch or two. Weather was low-mid 50s on-trail but increased back at sea-level

In the current dry conditions it is definitely not a blue trail. Maybe 2-3/10

Fun drive. Came from Los Burros/San Marin all the way to Nacimiento Rd. No problem in an AWD Sprinter. Some traffic, some campers. Not as many as I expected. Some tight spots with brush/trees, scapes on the sides/top. Very dusty and dry.

This was a great trail to get outside into a semi-remote camping area. Amazing views, trail was in good condition, minor traffic (for a holiday weekend), and great weather. Not difficult at all. Not sure why it got a 5 rating.

Entered from Nacimiento-Fergusson Road. I would consider this part more "difficult" than the actual highlighted trail. Still no more than a 3 rating. Great camping spot with cell service located at 35.92856, -121.38215 (first pic). We camped closer to the overlock the 2nd night. Getting down to the overlock (pics 2&3) is the only part of the highlighted trail where you need 4x4. We were lucky enough to see a rocket launch from Vandenberg AFB (pics 4&5). A lot of deer & turkey in this area (pic 6). We left down Los Burros Rd. to Hwy.1. Just FYI, there are locals that patrol this area every weekend for illegal activity and camp fires. Deputies also drove by late at night and spotlighted our camp. So be safe and respectful.

Drove from HWY 1 up Los Burros Road and then North on the South Coast Ridge Road to Nacimiento-Fergusson Rd. Los Burros has been graded recently and is in excellent condition. SCRR is quite narrow in many spots making passing a challenge, especially on steep slopes. Road bed is in excellent shape however since I was pulling a trailer, I used 4H to keep wheels from spinning. Magnificent views. No water, little wildlife.

The trail was easy. It was narrow at times, so expect pinstripes, but overall, it was an easy dirt trail.

I don’t know how anyone gave this a 5, I went from Nacimiento-Fergusson road all the way to three peaks in 2 wheel drive. I took my Niece who’s was fairly sure she would make it all the way in her new Subaru Forester (non-wilderness).
