Trail Overview

On each end of this trail is a lovely, winding, gravel/dirt road, but in the middle, for a little over a mile, is a rocky and rutted trail with rocky, vertical ledges as high as 28 inches tall. Several bypass routes are the most challenging obstacles, but 32" tires and rock sliders are recommended. The heavily wooded area and the south end have views overlooking Cove Creek. Expect some mud in the wet seasons but no deep holes. Most of the trail goes through the National Forest, but on the south end, there is quite a bit of private property, so please be mindful of property lines and stay on the trail. A few dispersed campsites and other intersecting trails can be found at the north ends, but no campgrounds or bathrooms.

Super fun trail. Nothing too gnarly. There is about a 2foot tall rock ledge that is the hardest feature but it has a bypass. There’s a downed tree on the north end but easy to roll over. Enjoy

Southern entrance is locked, there is a second southern entrance or you can enter north. Ran it in a VW with 33. Lots of wash outs, shallow water holes and that godawful shelf, which I bypassed. Took about 45 minutes, took some body damage somewhere. Anywho, fun trail. Lots of side trails near the northern tip.

Loved it, as always. Was in great shape and Lee Creek was low.

Accessed the trail head from the south. I would highly suggest coming to the trail head from the west of Creek Fork Rd. We made a mistake and went through the east side and traveled through about a quarter mile of 1-2 foot deep water/mud. We made it about half way up the trail and had to turn around when the trail began to get rough with rocks and the sides sloped into a “V”. Sequoia could’ve made it but the tundra would have been a gamble. The terrain was uphill and rocky but manageable. Some instances we needed guides to make sure we didn’t bottom out on rocks. Recommend having a high clearance vehicle and at least 33’s

We had to turn around halfway up. Got to the down hill area full of red clay and the truck kept sliding into the ditch. We could have stayed in the ditch and rode it out but I was afraid of getting body damage against the hillside. I bet it will be fine once it dries out.

Fun county rd, only obstacle that was questionable was the 2/3ft rock ledge there’s a bypass. Can be ran either way with connecting areas to explore.
