Trail Overview
H19 Pinion Hill is a 5-Diamond, one-way trail on the 400-Side of Hot Springs Off-Road Park. Though just 0.1 miles long, it gains over 100 feet of elevation, making for a short but steep and technical climb. The surface includes a wide variety of rock, ranging from small, loose, and slippery gravel to large boulders and rock ledges, with some sections requiring drivers to navigate just a few feet at a time. It’s a rocky challenge best suited for high-clearance vehicles with experienced drivers. This trail is located under a powerline corridor, offering a rare open-sky feel and a break from the forest canopy typical of the 400-Side. At the top, drivers are rewarded with an expansive view of the highway and miles of powerlines stretching across the Ouachita Mountains—a striking payoff after the climb. A Park Day-Use Trail Pass is required to access this system of trails. Cell service is spotty in places, and conditions can change quickly, especially after rain or in the winter months.
Difficulty
Off-camber trail with large rocks that may exceed axle height. Expect erosion, loose rocks, sand, washes, and shelves. Obstacles and ledges up to 5 feet, and near-vertical grades 8 to 10 feet tall. Caution: Vehicle damage and roll-overs are possible.
