Trail Overview

This trail begins as a relatively wide and well-maintained road but gradually narrows and becomes bumpier and rockier as you continue. The trail winds through beautiful old-growth forest, passing pockets of private land with cabins and mobile homes. Further along, the landscape shows extensive damage from the mid-April 2025 tornado, with many large trees uprooted and exposed. Despite the devastation, the park service has cleared the trail effectively, allowing for easy passage. Although the route is winding, it is neither difficult nor particularly challenging. Several hiking trailheads along the way offer toilets and trash disposal. There are also dispersed campsites available, though cell service is limited.
