Trail Overview
This is a well-maintained but heavily corrugated and dusty road, as it serves as one of the main thoroughfares in the northern part of the Hot Well Dunes area. Numerous dispersed campsites can be found along the route, making it a popular choice for vans and RVs as the views of the surrounding mountains are great. Drivers should proceed with caution and avoid excessive speed due to the presence of blind corners, roaming cattle, soft sandy sections, and regular two-way traffic. There is also a very large wash after the train tracks that can be problematic after heavy rains. This road offers no amenities such as water and trash disposal and cell signal is limited.

History
Managed by the Bureau of Land Management, the 2,000-acre site is a popular destination for off-highway vehicles, especially in the cooler months. Visitors can ride the sandy trails by day and soak under the stars by night. While the area has no amenities like water or trash disposal, dispersed camping is allowed, and the BLM encourages visitors to tread lightly and pack out waste to help preserve the fragile desert ecosystem.
