Trail Overview
Springer Mountain is a scenic and easy 3.9-mile point-to-point trail near Pinetop-Lakeside, Arizona, that offers an accessible dirt and gravel route perfect for beginners, scenic cruisers, and those looking to connect to deeper forest service roads. Winding through the beautiful Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest, this route features gentle elevation changes between 6,890 and 7,197 feet as it skirts the northern base of its namesake, Springer Mountain. The trail is graded, has no technical obstacles, and is easily passable by standard two-wheel-drive passenger cars, four-wheel-drive vehicles, SxSs, and dirt bikes under dry conditions.
Starting from North Springer Mountain Drive on the west side or near Sky Hi Road on the east, the trail provides great views of the surrounding ponderosa pine forest and connects with various spur trails, such as those leading toward Blue Ridge Mountain. While the path remains smooth and straightforward most of the year, rain can quickly turn the surface muddy, and winter snowpack may render it impassable. Offroaders can use this route as a relaxed starting point before branching off onto more rugged forest service tracks, making it a highly versatile corridor in the White Mountains region.
