Trail Overview

Springer Mountain is an easy and scenic point-to-point trail through the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest near Lakeside, AZ. The route is graded and covered with gravel and easily passable by most vehicles. Rain may increase the trail difficulty, and winter travel may not be possible. This is a great connector trail to various other forest service roads leading to other peaks in the area. As always, be a steward and protect our public lands and national forests; observe Tread Lightly! Principles and have fun.

Typical gravel road. It's not especially well maintained, but it's also not in bad shape. We towed a 30-foot camper in without any issues and found a dispersed campsite where we stayed for the week. I wouldn't recommend bringing anything much larger than our camper, as most of the sites appear better suited for vans, smaller trailers, or tent camping. We found the road to be in slightly better condition approaching from the east than from the west, although neither direction was particularly difficult. We also rode our RZR into town for groceries, and it was an easy trip.
