Trail Overview

Sheridan Mountain is a rock trail pocked with numerous wash crossings, water damage, and erosion. This is a long trail, over 12 miles one-way, with a locked gate at Private Property if you try to connect through to the Fair Oaks Trail. As you proceed South, the trail conditions worsen, and the more rocky the trail gets, with the erosion and water damage worsening into more hazardous conditions. There are sections of this road that turn into a shelf road, as well as some of the wash and rock-creek type crossings being off-camber and steep. Along this trail, you might see deer, elk, and other wildlife. This area is also popular with hunters, as well as ranchers for cattle grazing so don't be surprised if you see cows scattered about. There are numerous boulder fields and rock outcroppings that could be home to bigger cats and snakes, so if you do decide to venture out of your vehicle, walk loudly and be aware.
