Trail Overview

Powerline Road begins as a gravel route marked by heavy corrugation and stretches of deteriorating pavement as it nears a residential area. After the turnoff to the neighborhood, the road surface improves noticeably, though it remains loose and slippery. Drivers will pass several cattle guards and encounter low-hanging live wires across the roadway, part of an ongoing geophysics project in the area. Maintaining a moderate speed is recommended, as the road narrows unexpectedly through washes and includes a few large bumps that can catch drivers off guard. Several spurs and side trails branch off from the main route, offering opportunities for exploration. While the trail includes a few dispersed campsites, it does not provide amenities such as trash disposal or water, and cell service may be limited.
