Trail Overview
FS 9709L begins off Tule Mesa Road and travels north as an out-and-back trail through remote ranchland and rolling high desert terrain.
The route starts as a well-used two-track winding gradually downhill toward Willow Springs, where the landscape becomes noticeably greener with mature trees and lush vegetation surrounding the water source. After passing the spring area, the trail climbs back uphill toward a gated section. Please leave all gates as you found them. Beyond the gate, the trail turns east and winds through scattered trees with several dispersed campsites and camp rings located throughout the area. As the trail continues, the terrain becomes rougher, with larger loose gravel and scattered rocks up to 6 inches in size. A few shallow ruts and uneven sections make the trail increasingly bumpy but still manageable for most high-clearance vehicles. Farther along, the trail passes through another open gate and wraps around the hillside before descending toward another creek and wash area lined with thick green vegetation and trees. The route eventually ends near an old corral and historic ranch house site, adding to the remote backcountry feel of the area. Livestock may be present throughout the route. No camping is allowed within 1/4 mile of any water source, spring, or tank. Use caution during wet weather, as creek and wash crossings may become difficult.
