FS 639

FS 639 begins off FS 248A and quickly opens up along the top of a ridge, offering a wide, gravel track with minimal trees and expansive views in every direction. This section feels open and exposed in the best way—you can see for miles from up here. The trail makes two gradual left turns as it follows the ridgeline, with several incredible vantage points along the way. You’ll pass through a few burned areas, a reminder of past fires in the region. At the end of the trail, you’ll find a campfire ring and clear signs of where the last fire pushed up the hillside, giving the area a raw but scenic contrast between regrowth and burn scars.
