Trail Overview
Forest Service Road 142B is just over 2.5 miles long and snakes through the ponderosa pine canopies of the Coconino National Forest. This trail was mapped from south to north. The first portion of the route is fairly rutted and uneven, with strong potential for numerous mud holes after significant precipitation. As you continue north, you will reach a gate that must be opened and closed behind you. Beyond the gate, the trail transforms into a more enjoyable and laid-back dirt route that winds through scattered ponderosa pines and junipers. The final few hundred yards become slightly rocky, though nothing overly difficult. The trail ends at a turnaround point with a nice view overlooking the West Clear Creek Wilderness.
Difficulty
Expect an uneven and rutted dirt trail with small loose rocks throughout the route. This trail has the potential for muddy sections and mud holes after decent precipitation, with obstacles measuring up to 12 inches in height.
