Trail Overview
FR 261 makes its way through part of a large ponderosa pine forest. There are some sporadic aspen groves mixed in for good measure on this trail as well. This trail is one lane wide, with places to turn around or pass other vehicles between the trees. As always, the Tread Lightly principles are in effect, so always try to stay on established paths. There are no obstacles on this trail, as well as no cell service, so offline maps are essential, as this area is speckled with multiple trails that link into a large network. Popular with hunters, there are numerous camps in these woods, and you might see deer, elk, and turkey (among other animal species) on this trail.
