Trail Overview
This just over 2 mile trail climbs over 200 feet up onto a ridgeline, providing views of the surrounding area in all directions, including the Trigo Mountains. The surface is hard-packed dirt with small pebble rocks that make for solid traction. There's little vegetation in this exposed area, which is prone to wind, so be prepared for breezy conditions, especially on the ridgeline. The elevated position offers excellent vantage points, and there are plenty of flat areas for dispersed camping where you can set up and enjoy the panoramic views. The sparse vegetation and open terrain give this route a unique character compared to more brush-filled trails in the area.
Difficulty
This is an easy trail with straightforward navigation. The hard pack dirt with small pebble rocks provides good traction, and the climb is steady without technical obstacles. The main consideration is the wind exposure on the ridgeline, which can affect larger or taller vehicles. The lack of vegetation makes the trail easy to follow.
