Trail Overview

This is a 2-mile-long dirt trail that goes through the desert flats north of Oracle Junction, Arizona. It is a wide trail for an ATV, consistently about 10 feet wide, lined with mesquite trees, cholla, and saguaros. The trail mostly goes straight across the desert west to east, with gradual curves, and distant views of the mountains to the east. The trail is a mix of dirt, gravel, and sand, but is mostly smooth and simple, with shallow ruts that are easy for dirt bikes and ATVs to ride over. It crosses several short sandier washes. The main thing to watch out for is sudden, larger ruts or washouts, which are sometimes horizontal across the trail, or running vertically through the middle of the trail. The ruts are generally less than a foot deep and can easily be straddled or ridden around, but can come up suddenly when riding fast. This trail is on Arizona State Trust Land, which requires a permit for recreation from the Arizona State Land Department.

Difficulty

This is a very easy trail for 50-inch vehicles and dirt bikes for the entire route. The only technical element is small ruts in the trail, and watching out for the many cacti lining the trail.
