Came in from Blue Point, and went out the Apache Trail side. Just wanted to go out and have some fun. Also I saw the “Tomahawk Mine” I think it’s just the gold field from back then, I couldn’t find no shaft in that area for the time that I had. But other than that it was great. There was also a trail running race going on.

trail was washed out in some areas due to recent rains, there were a few spots i had to use lockers climbing. completed trail in a bone stock 2024 rubicon with no issues. experienced drives will find the lines, some areas for new folks will make them second guess it as there were a few good climbs & drops with 2ft+ ruts. non rubicon or lower suvs have a 50/50 chance as you will frame out or tip. you NEED swaybar disconnects at least to stay planted in some areas.

I've run this trail multiple times, the last time being about 5 years ago. It was rocky, but on the easy side. This time was completely different. Several areas I would describe as at least moderate to difficult. Our 2 Broncos did fine, but we had a SxS with us that was of the hunting type which was top heavy and it was a nightmare getting them thru this trail. Huge gullies and off camber sections. We actually had to wi nch him down one particular section, and he rolled over on his side in another area. This trail is much more difficult than a few years ago, and do not attempt it with anything but a fully capable Jeep or Bronco, or a Polaris/CanAm with high clearance. It's fun with the right vehicle, but do not attempt with anything less capable.

My first time trying out this trail. Lucky I ran into some pros who showed me the way and had a blast! Took me about 3 hours to do the whole trail from end to end, with a lot of stops to enjoy the views.

Early morning I took my mostly stock 2000 Nissan Frontier that only has a rear and front locker and 31 inch tires. Kinda as a test to see if it could do it. My route is in the photos. The truck preformed fine on most of the obstacles the lockers helped me get up the hard ones. The only problem I ran into was hitting some of the skid plates I put on my rig and stock side steps on the truck which I actually broke the one of the mounts off of. If I were to do it again or if anyone is thinking of doing this trial I would recommend bigger tires and like a 2 or 3 inch lift especially if you have a lot of things your worried about hitting on you underside and if you care for your paint this isn’t the trial for you a lot of the obstacles are narrow with overgrown bushes ready to scratch your rig up. Overall very rewarding trail to go on lots of great views and obstacles that take some thought to get over in the wash.

Started from Bush Hwy and did the 13 miles to Sr88. I attached a photo of the trail with it sectioned into 3 parts 1 and 3 (in black) were nice scenic routes that you can do with a little bit of clearance and good tires even without 4wd (1 really steep hill on part 3 but not technical). Probably each of these portions took 30-45 minutes to do just taking my time and cruising through enjoying the scenery. Part 2 was just section after section of stony/rocky obstacles, I may not have gone over 7 mph the entire time through this part and had to get out and view the trail and pick my lines a dozen times. Took 2+ hours on this portion. Saw 2 side by sides, 2 trucks, and two motos the entire time. Gate at Bush Hwy was closed but unlocked and no code needed, gate at main staging area and sr88 were open.

Fun trail. A couple of challenging sections for my stock Jeep Gladiator Rubicon, but nothing we couldn't handle. Note: despite what the description says, the pass to use this trail is NOT free, but the cost is pretty minimal.

Did the short trail for Go Topless Day. Plenty of people on the trail but everyone was courteous and had no difficulties. A stock 4x4 jeep could do what we did.

Bulldog Wash portion was deep sand; used 4WD to get through it as 2WD could not push us through some of the deepest sand. Once got on Bulldog Canyon Trail, we went west. That portion was very rutted and rocky; kept speed about 4 MPH or less.

Just a casual day on the trail with some great scenery. Nearest to the TH we saw the most traffic with just a few vehicles further in. There were just a few spots where you have to pay attention to your lines but other than that the trail was pretty easy. Obstacles didn't require much thought with high clearance and experienced driver.

Great time to visit this trail. It was fun and just slightly technical. Nothing too crazy, a few spots where it would be helpful to have a spotter. But overall doable alone if you wanted. Definitely need a 4x4 in some areas.

we made it through in a stock jeep grand Cherokee but I highly recommend a more skilled driver. or some friends to help move rocks! deep ruts and a few drops offs that with a small lift would have felt better to go through

You need a Tonto permit, printed, gate code is on the permit, as of 10-11-2024, permit cost $6 good for 6 months. Trail started sandy with winding curves then became rocky. Lots of hills with one steep downhill. Higher clearance useful or you’ll scrape a lot. Couple spots a spotter was nice to have. 4 high highly suggested, 4 low useful once or twice, swaybar disconnect helpful but not needed, lockers not needed. Very dark at night, lights helpful. Dry, dusty. Would do again during day as it seemed pretty from what little we could see.
