Trail Overview

BLM PE1126 starts at a gate off Highway 70 and winds north around several water tanks before turning west across open desert. The trail is very natural, with large loose gravel, rocky sections, bumpy terrain, and dense desert creosote. Navigation becomes important when reaching the wash. You will need to look ahead for the established tracks and cross the wash rather than following it down. The route continues across increasingly rugged desert terrain before eventually connecting with BLM PE1124. While no major technical obstacles, the loose rock, uneven surface, and natural trail conditions will require your attention. This section opens into a larger network of trails offering varying levels of challenge. Beautiful mountain views and excellent sunset scenery surround the route. Watch for the low ground-cover cactus along the trail; watch your pets and children around this cactus, especially.

Difficulty

No significant technical obstacles or challenging sections were found, but good navigation skills are recommended, as monsoon storms can quickly change trail conditions and drainage crossings. The trail is impassable when wet, and a 4WD with high clearance is recommended due to the rough terrain and wash crossings.
