Trail Overview
Crossing BLM 751 along its path, this route culminates with really cool sand and mud walls at the trail's end, creating a dramatic finale. Rock gardens punctuate the wash where sand becomes very deep at times. The wash pinches down to one vehicle wide in sections, creating claustrophobic passages through the terrain. Various rock gardens feature stones from basketball size to larger, demanding careful line selection through the boulder fields. Wash step downs plunge up to 18 inches repeatedly, adding vertical challenges to the technical rock navigation.
Difficulty
This is extremely challenging terrain, earning every bit of its rating. Rock gardens with basketball-sized and larger stones require precise wheel placement and high clearance. Deep sand sections demand excellent momentum management and traction. The very narrow one vehicle wide sections leave zero margin for error navigating through rock obstacles. Wash step downs up to 18 inches create serious vertical challenges throughout. This combination of deep sand, large rock gardens, narrow passages, and substantial steps will stop many vehicles. Only highly capable rigs with experienced drivers, excellent clearance, and possibly lockers should attempt this route.
