Trail Overview
This is a two-track simple trail that makes Indian Pass more diverse. It's a scenic bypass of Indian Pass, where you get off the boring wide gravel road and explore narrow two tracks, and can even do a little rockhounding out there. The trail is not long and doesn't take up too much more of your time, but if you're going out this way, it's worth adding a little technicality to your trip than a plain gravel road.
Difficulty
There is a part where you have to cross a wash, and dropping into the wash requires a high clearance vehicle and 4x4 to get through a short stint of soft sand. There is also a slight climb section with erosion, so you have to be mindful to maneuver around the erosion.
History
This whole area of BLM land is great for dispersed camping and not far from Buttercup sand dunes, Imperial sand dunes, and the legendary Glamis OHV area. For people interested in dispersed camping, rockhounding, and off-roading in any type of vehicle, all these spur roads and trails nearby are great to check out, including Tumco mine and American Girl mine, just a few short miles away.
