Trail Overview

9601X is a scenic, one-lane trail that meanders through rocky terrain, open pastures, and rolling buttes. Windmills dot the landscape, adding to the classic ranchland feel, while cows freely roam the area. Despite the rocky surface, the trail remains easy to navigate, making it a relaxed drive through wide-open country. With no cell service in the area, be sure to download offline maps before heading out.

Difficulty

Mostly one lane wide, with places to pull off the trail to pass and/or turn around, this trail is a rocky but easy drive through the surrounding beautiful countryside. High pastures with long grasses and incredible views of the surrounding hills and buttes make this trail an easy one to explore while getting out of the city without the concern of major obstacles. Please close all gates behind you, as this area is a grazing area for ranchers.

Beware that although this trail clearly looks like it outlets to I-17 there is a locked gate!! Do not count on being able to get to the highway from this trail.
