Trail Overview

Knee Road is mostly a dirt road with larger rock and some gravel. There are more potholes on this road passing through treed areas and Muskeg with tarns and signs of wildlife. Be careful if walking on the muskeg to keep to the high ground so you don't sink. Do not drive off the road! Past the muskeg the road goes back into the trees and brush where the road ends. There is one spot at the end for camping or turning, or a tight turn around. There are a lot of wildlife in this area. Be safety minded as there is a sign of Bear, Moose, Porcupine, and Deer along this road. Wolves are also known to be in this area. Weather plays a part in the level of difficulty as this is in a rainforest and a lot of these roads are going through areas of muskeg/wetlands. There are sections where parts of the road have drop offs when gaining in elevation. Many creeks go through or under this road. There are views of muskeg/wetlands and treed areas. Large Ferns, Skunk Cabbage, Devils Club, tall grass, Lupine, Goats Beard, as well as a variety of trees, lichens, moss and flowers can be seen along the road. Views: Forested scenics, Meadows, Valleys, and Muskeg/wetlands can be seen along the road. There is 1 small dry camping spot at the end of the road. Warnings: Keep on the road (Muskeg and wetlands), watch for signs of road deterioration or washouts due to heavy rainfall. Be mindful of wildlife, especially Bears. No cell service noted. Check weather conditions and be prepared for rain, fog with low visibility, and lower temperatures. It is a rainforest. Suggested best time of year: June - October. Note: This is a down and back road.
