Trail Overview
Pebble Beach is an exciting, moderately challenging trail perfect for drivers of capable four-wheel-drive vehicles and SxSs looking to test their skills and rigs on a mix of rugged terrain and water obstacles. Spanning approximately 6.2 miles, this route begins with a technical, high-clearance section on the northeast side featuring multiple deep water crossings and rocky climbs that will test your traction and line choice. These obstacles require a vehicle with decent ground clearance and four-wheel-drive capability to navigate the slick, submerged rocks. As you progress along the route, the trail climbs from a minimum elevation of about 425 feet up to a peak elevation of 674 feet, offering scenic views of the surrounding dense woodlands.
After tackling the rocky climbs and deep water on the northern end, the trail transitions to a much milder, fast-rolling surface composed mostly of dirt and gravel. This southern section features smaller, shallow water crossings and a gentler grade, leading you across the Tennessee and Alabama state line. Keep an eye out for local wildlife and changing trail conditions, as heavy rains can significantly deepen the water crossings and muddy the dirt sections. Whether you are seeking a bit of rock crawling or a scenic drive through the border country, this route provides a diverse offroading experience that blends technical challenge with a relaxed overland finish.
