Trail Overview
Subida Ocotillo or Ocotillo Ascent is a rugged, rewarding off-road trail that forms part of the 2025 San Felipe Baja 250 course, covering Virtual Checkpoints 49 to 54. This section is known for its challenging terrain and stunning natural beauty, making it a favorite for experienced off-roaders. The trail starts with deep gravel and sand, peppered with small to medium-sized rocks--some hidden just beneath the surface--demanding constant attention. As you climb, the terrain becomes increasingly rocky and technical, with the elevation rising over 400 feet from 614 to 1,020 feet. Deep ruts carve through the trail in places, creating a high center that requires vehicles with high clearance and at least 33-inch tires.
