Trail Overview
This scenic off-road trail begins just south of the Los Planes Highway, near its intersection with the road to La Ventana. Originally planned as a shortcut between the Los Planes Highway and the road to San Antonio, the route now loops back on itself due to a fence blocking the intended path--an all-too-common occurrence in Baja. The drive features a gradual ascent through classic desert landscapes, starting with towering El Cardon cacti and other arid vegetation. Initially, the terrain is a mix of washboarded sections and softer sand, which transitions into larger trees and more open spaces as you climb into the Arroyo. In this section, the sand becomes deeper, so those driving 2WD vehicles may find it helpful to slightly air down their tires. While the trail offers no major challenges, it provides a short yet rewarding adventure with beautiful desert views and some nice spots to make camp along the way.
