Trail Overview

This fork in the road is passable in either direction with a high-clearance 2WD vehicle. The right fork is the wider, better-maintained option, making for a smoother ride. If you're approaching from San Jose de Palmilla, continuing straight (slightly right) will lead you southeast, where you'll eventually merge with the San Evaristo route--an alternate way to reach Highway 1. For those heading north toward the Gulf Coast and the town of San Evaristo, the narrower left fork (to the north) is your route. Though less maintained and only one vehicle wide, this track offers a more scenic drive through ranches, a small community store, and striking desert vegetation. It's less traveled, but still manageable with 2WD if your vehicle has adequate clearance.

Difficulty

Both options at this fork are passable with a 2WD vehicle, but the left fork is slightly more challenging and may require additional ground clearance. In contrast, the right fork is a well-maintained, graded road wide enough for two vehicles, offering an easier and more comfortable drive.
