Trail Overview
This route begins as a well-maintained ranch road winding through mid-sized desert vegetation and areas that appear primed for future development. The road remains easy to navigate for a few miles before dropping into the arroyo. Up to this point, any 2WD vehicle with decent ground clearance should have no trouble. Once inside the arroyo, the terrain is mostly shallow sand with firm sections making it passable for experienced 2WD drivers who can air down their tires and handle sandy conditions. However, the route is rated for 4WD due to the risk of getting stuck with one wrong move. Along the way, large hard-packed sections on the right offer excellent camping spots. The trail eventually connects to the Carretera Cabo Este, where a right turn leads toward Cabo Pulmo.
Difficulty
Any 4WD vehicle should have no trouble with this trail, including the arroyo, though airing down tires is just as crucial as having 4WD in sand. In wet conditions, however, it's best to reconsider driving into any arroyo.
