Trail Overview

Pavillion Pass is a route that connects Highway 97 to Highway 99--a through road. The route does pass through a Reserve Community, so access to this area may be restricted at times. Communication is key to gaining access. You climb over the hillside and follow along some transmission line corridors with stunning views of the glacier mountains off in the distance. There are a lot of farmlands and grazing tenures along the way, but you end up accessing Kelly Lake which has a small campground on the north side.

Difficulty

Most of the route is fairly easy to drive. Once you get to the last few miles, it traverses down the side of the mountain with some tighter switchbacks that have some washed-out sections and very steep side slopes. Access down the mountainside is closed during the winter months due to the terrain.

Road is pretty good shape. A few deep pot holes and lots of wash board. I would air down a bit to make it a little more comfortable.

About 1 km of ice in the shade just before the downhill to Kelly Lake. Sheer ice. Not for the faint of heart. Made it. But a few in group had drops.

Generally easy trail that connects 99 and 97. Did have some switchbacks and steep grades at the beginning and end, but not an issue with two high clearance 4x4 vehicles. Some pot holes and washboard areas as well as narrow (one vehicle wide) in spots.

well maintained easy trail. OnX was reporting this as a 5/10. I would honestly rate it a 1/10 except for a few areas with narrow sections and steep switchbacks.
