Trail Overview
This is a nice out-and-back trail, out to North Star Lake. The lake offers campsites right on the bank, available on a first-come, first-served basis. An honor system is in place for payment unless a camp host is present. A wooden dock at the lake provides a good spot to launch a canoe or paddleboard. The trail can be a bit bumpy in places, with scattered potholes. You may have to pull far off the trail or back up to allow vehicles towing campers to pass. Otherwise, it's a nice dirt trail that winds through the trees until it reaches the lake. There is limited cell service (one bar). To ensure you have consistent map coverage, please download your offline maps before exploring the area. Crown Land Camping: Canadian Crown Land is open to Canadian residents for free camping. Out-of-country visitors, particularly from the US, will need to obtain a camping permit from the nearest FrontCounter BC office in Cranbrook before camping on Crown land if camping outside of the paid campsite.
