Trail Overview

MacJack Main is a 12-kilometer (7.5-mile) out-and-back trail that runs parallel to the MacJack River, offering great views of the water at several crossing points. This single-track dirt and gravel road is wide enough for full-size trucks, but trailers are not recommended, as the turnaround space at the end is tight. The trail is lined with young-growth forest, giving it a closed-in, tunnel-like feel in some areas. There are a few downed branches that are currently passable, either by maneuvering around or driving over. While mostly smooth, drivers should be cautious of occasional potholes and whoops. Bear activity has been noted in the area, so take proper precautions when stopping or camping.

Difficulty

While the trail is mostly manageable for high-clearance vehicles, the whoops, tight end, and turnaround bump the rating slightly. Not technically difficult, but attention is required.
