Trail Overview

This is a fun and relatively mild trail leading from the Chute Lake Lodge area toward the beautiful Elinor Lake area. There is plenty of space to turn around here and head back, but if you continue past the lake, it is slightly more challenging with a small water crossing. The trail eventually leads to the Gillard FSR, where you can continue exploring!

Difficulty

This is a relatively mild trail that most stock vehicles can accomplish. There is one short water crossing that, depending on the time of year, can be approximately 1 foot deep.

History

This area has a rich history tied to the Kettle Valley Railway (KVR) and the Chute Lake Lodge. The Lodge was originally a bunkhouse for the sawmill workers in the area, but later became a water stop for the steam trains that traveled through the area. The lodge has evolved over time, and today it stands as a historic retreat offering a glimpse into the past and a gateway to outdoor adventure.

Access Description

Follow the Kettle Valley Rail Trail to the Chute Lake Lodge. Just south of the actual lodge, you will find a road heading southeast toward the Chute Lake Recreation Site. Continue past the rec site heading southeast, and you will meet a fork in the road. Stay to the right to follow this trail toward Elinor Lake.
