Trail Overview

Porcupine Hills Trail 43 starts directly off the main road and offers a good terrain mix, including dirt climbs interspersed with roots and rocks. As you ascend, open grassy stretches lead to an elevated overlook featuring several dispersed campsites with views of the eastern prairie valley. The trail stop at the edge of a long, steep descent over grass and loose dirt. From this point, you can choose to continue back to the main road the way you came from or commit to the descent to reach trail marker 45. Please note that a seasonal closure is in effect from September 1st through February 28th.
