The Siegel-Kline Kill Outer Loop begins at the main trailhead off County Route 21 and follows a well-maintained path through varied Hudson Valley terrain. From the kiosk, follow the main trail clockwise to stay on the outer loop. Early on, the route skirts the edge of an open meadow before dipping into a forested area with dense understory. At the first junction, stay left to continue along the longer outer path. The trail then weaves through a mix of wetland crossings and gentle wooded ridges. Wooden boardwalks and platforms offer dry footing and clear views of marshy habitat.
Birdwatchers will find this route rewarding in spring and summer, when songbirds and waterfowl are active near the wetland edges. Several short connector paths lead back toward the interior, but remain on the main loop by continuing straight at each signed intersection. The terrain remains mostly level with some short, muddy sections, especially after rain or snowmelt. Leashed dogs are welcome, and benches along the route provide quiet spots to rest or observe wildlife. This peaceful, low-elevation walk offers a relaxing outing in one of the Columbia Land Conservancy’s most accessible preserves.
