Loop
The Borden’s Pond Conservation Area Loop begins at a small trailhead just off Route 203 in Chatham, NY, and follows a network of interconnected trails through gently rolling hardwood forest. From the parking area, hikers can choose either direction around the main loop, with several well-marked junctions offering short side trails and alternate routes. Boardwalks lead across wetland areas, especially in the lower sections near seasonal streams and vernal pools. Interpretive signs along the way provide insight into local plants, wildlife, and land-use history.
With minimal elevation change and broad, easy-to-follow paths, this route is suitable for novice hikers, families, and dog walkers (leashes required). Trails may become muddy in spring or after heavy rains, and winter conditions can bring snow or ice. While not long or remote, this route offers a peaceful forest setting and occasional pond views—especially rewarding in fall foliage or winter stillness.
