Point to Point
From the split in the trails from the Steam Mill Trail, continue along the foothills of the Steam Mill and White Pine drainages. The trail crosses through meadows and forests, and across a dry creek bed (it was dry in the fall when I went; maybe it has water in the spring).
After ascending for a few hundred vertical feet, the trail drops down into the White Pine Creek drainage and crosses the creek, and then starts to ascend again toward the headwaters to the west. This part has some beautiful views of White Pine Creek and follows it closely enough to hear the rushing waters for most of the rest of the trail.
The trail then passes through some more aspen forests and after about 800 feet of elevation gain, where it meets up with the White Pine-Bunchgrass Canyon Trail.
