Description
The Limber Pine Trail is located in Logan Canyon right at the summit near Bear Lake. It's a great way to spend an hour. If you really took your time it might take two. This is an easy and pretty nature trail with several interpretive signs showing how the forest works. There is a signed parking area with an outhouse. At the trailhead, is a nice sign explaining what the Clark's Nutcracker does in the forest. I saw several of these on the hike. The trail immediately starts to gently climb through thick pine trees. It is beautiful! There were several kinds of wildflowers out. Once you leave the trees there is a great view of Bear Lake to the east. The trail stays open for a while. This is a great spot to spot birds. The trail then enters an aspen forest. You will soon be at the Limber Pine the trail is named for. This tree is huge! It is actually several trees grown together over time. It was really cool to see. Estimates are that it is over 2500 years old. Keep heading past the tree to finish the loop. You will be in more thick pines. There are pretty views to the north of the sinks area and Beaver Mountain. There are several benches along the way if you need a rest. There was also one really crazy tree trunk right on the trail I thought was cool. After this tree you will soon be back to your car.
