Loop
This moderate route begins from the small parking area off Butler Road, at the edge of the Miller Forest tract of the Peaked Mountain Preserve. Stay left on Miller Forest Loop immediately after setting out from the trailhead to reach Lunden Pond—a still body of water often fringed with beaver activity and waterfowl. Stay left on Lunden Pond Loop to circle the shoreline before turning left onto Lady Slipper Lane. After a short distance, turn left again on Temple Brook Trail, winding through quiet woods before continuing onto Ridge Trail. Follow Ridge Trail back to Miller Forest Loop to return to the parking area.
The terrain remains gentle throughout, with a few rolling inclines and short descents. This is a year-round hiking route, including snowshoe access in winter, though plowing may be delayed after storms. Wildlife sightings are common near the water, and dogs are welcome on leash. The mix of forest cover, stream crossings, and quiet surroundings makes this a peaceful option for day hikes in central Massachusetts.
