The route begins from Wrights Mountain trailhead off Wright Mountain Road, but it can also be access from Chase Hollow and Waits River Roads. The route climbs steadily through mixed northern hardwood forest. Early on, hikers will pass through stands of maple, beech, and birch before reaching a signed trail junction. Stay right here to continue toward the summit; the left fork connects to optional short loop segments that rejoin the main route. The trail narrows and steepens slightly in sections, with exposed roots and occasional rocky steps.
About halfway up, interpretive signs share ecological and conservation insights. Deer and birds of prey are sometimes spotted along the way. The final push leads to a broad ledge offering panoramic views of the surrounding hills and valleys, offering an ideal spot for a rest or snack. The route returns along the same trail to the trailhead. This is a good option for day hikes in central Vermont, especially during fall foliage or as a family-friendly outing with manageable elevation gain.
