The Morey Mountain Ridge Traverse begins at the designated trailhead in the Morey Mountain Conservation Area and climbs steadily through mixed hardwood forest toward a rocky ridgeline. The trail becomes steeper and more uneven as it approaches the ridge, with a few short scrambles over exposed rock. After reaching the open ledges, the route turns south to the Morey Mountain summit, then crosses the ridgeline to a cliffs overlooking the Connecticut River.
This ridge traverse can be completed as an out-and-back route to the summit cliffs or as a longer semi-loop by exploring side paths on the descent. Moose and deer sightings are possible on quieter days, especially near dawn or dusk. Carry all water, as the ridge offers no reliable sources. Expect slick conditions on rock slabs after rain, and check seasonal trail conditions—mud and lingering snow can make early spring travel difficult. The final overlook rewards hikers with a quiet, scenic perch above the lake and forested hills below.
